Teens MMA
AGES 11-18
Our Teens MMA program gives young athletes a place to challenge themselves, build confidence and learn real martial arts skills in a structured and supportive environment.
Students are introduced to the different elements of Mixed Martial Arts, combining striking, Muay Thai, wrestling, grappling and conditioning. Classes focus on developing strong fundamentals while teaching teens how to move, think and problem-solve as an athlete.
But Teens MMA is about more than learning how to fight. We put a strong emphasis on discipline, respect, resilience, teamwork and confidence — skills that carry far beyond the gym.
Day: Wednesday and Friday
Time: 5:00pm-6pm
Why MMA for Teens?
MMA is no longer a fringe sport. With the incredible rise of the UFC, a new generation is growing up watching athletes who combine striking, wrestling, grappling and jiu-jitsu into one sport. UFC now reports a global fanbase of more than 700 million people, showing just how mainstream MMA has become.
Our Teens MMA program gives young athletes the opportunity to learn the sport properly in a coached, structured environment. They develop real skills while building fitness, confidence, discipline, resilience and the ability to stay composed under pressure.
And MMA doesn't have to mean becoming a fighter. For most teens, it's about finding something they genuinely enjoy, getting off their screens, challenging themselves and becoming part of a team. For those who do dream of competing one day, starting young allows them to develop a well-rounded foundation across multiple martial arts disciplines.
Even UFC itself has expanded youth martial-arts and mentoring initiatives focused on fitness, confidence, resilience and belonging.
Teens MMA FAQ
What ages is Teens MMA for?
Our Teens MMA program is designed for youth ages 11–18, with training adapted to each athlete’s age, experience and ability.
Does my teen need martial arts experience?
Not at all! Beginners are welcome. We teach the fundamentals from the ground up while giving more experienced athletes opportunities to continue developing their skills.
What will they learn?
Teens learn the core elements of Mixed Martial Arts, including Muay Thai and striking, wrestling, grappling, movement and conditioning. Our goal is to build well-rounded athletes with strong fundamentals across multiple disciplines.
Is MMA safe for teenagers?
Safety and control are a major focus of the program. Skills are introduced progressively in a structured, coached environment, with an emphasis on proper technique, respect for training partners and controlled practice.
Does my teen have to fight or compete?
Absolutely not. Teens can train MMA for fitness, confidence, discipline and fun without ever stepping into competition. For athletes who do develop an interest in competing, our coaches can help guide them toward that goal when they're ready.
What if my teen isn't very athletic?
That's completely okay! Your teen doesn't need to “get in shape” before joining. MMA naturally develops strength, endurance, coordination, balance and overall athletic ability as they train.
What does my teen need for class?
Teens should wear comfortable athletic clothing they can move and roll on the ground in. A rash guard or fitted athletic shirt is ideal, paired with athletic shorts or leggings. We train barefoot, so no special footwear is required. As they progress, we'll let you know if gloves or additional training equipment are needed. AMT apparel and training gear are also available for purchase right at the gym.
Will MMA help build confidence and discipline?
That's one of our biggest goals. Training challenges teens to listen, problem-solve, work with others, handle pressure and keep trying when something is difficult. Those small wins on the mats can help build confidence and resilience outside the gym too.
Is this only for teens who want to become fighters?
Not at all. The growth of MMA and the UFC has introduced an entire generation to the sport, but your teen doesn't need to dream about becoming a professional fighter. MMA is an exciting way to stay active, learn real skills, challenge themselves and become part of a team.
How do I register?
Teens MMA runs as a structured program. Registration can be completed online, and once registered, we'll be in touch with everything your teen needs to know about their upcoming start date and first class.
Can my teen try MMA before committing?
Absolutely. If they're interested but unsure whether MMA is for them, getting on the mats is the best way to find out. No previous experience is required — they just need to be willing to learn.
